Hi – I am using my newly acquired Decklink Extreme to capture BetaSP video into FCP 5 and using the Blackmagic DV-NTSC capture preset. However, the file sizes and data rate are running considerably larger than I’d expected: about 300mb per minute of video and a data rate of 42.50 mb/s. DV is usually somewhat smaller – 200mb per minute of video and a data rate of 25mb/s.
As I am looking at a lot of capture, this will add up very soon. Am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks –

    Hi,

Please check that you’re not capturing more audio channels than required. You can do this in the Log and Capture window under the Clip Settings tab.

    regards

Oops, my mistake: that seems to have been the problem. Thanks for the tip & your time –
