I’m trying to import footage from a mini-dv tape into Premiere Pro CS4 using a SONY tape deck. I didn’t change anything with the equipment used for the shoot and made no changes within the “capture’ process, but the captured footage is very small. I looked at the properties of the file and it said it was a 720 X 480 BlackMagic AVI file. Even when I try to convert it using Windows Media Encoder, the video image is still very small.

I’ve looked all over the internet and cannot figure out what I’m doing wrong.

Please help me if you can.

    Hi Tei,

Create a NEW Project, select the DV NTSC preset, and Capture via 1394 Firewire. Hard to go wrong, don’t know where the BlackMagic codec would come into play – unless you are set up to capture through the BlackMagic hardware then there must be an incorrect setting there.

Just capture to native DV capture, should work
