[Ricardo Marty] “When I asked whether Fusion was end of life as a standalone product, Blackmagic USA President Dan May clarified. Resolve 15 will not include the entire feature set of Fusion. Rather, as Dan put it, Fusion will contain a superset of Resolve 15 Fusion functionality. Fusion, then, will continue as a standalone product both in its paid and free versions. Note, though, that beginning with Resolve 15, a Fusion dongle will also unlock Blackmagic Studio giving those users who purchased Fusion an extra Resolve seat.”

That is good news then, thanks for sharing.

The reason for the Ultimatte purchase was to sell a realtime studio hardware solution (and make some actual money for once!), not for building into Fusion.

The reason they introduced the new Delta Keyer in Fusion 9 could well be because they were anticipating dropping the licensing for Primatte.

You could be right but an app ultimatte would not necessarily kill a hardware ultimatte. two distinct markets.
Its like fairlight app version and a full console version and davinci with panels.
But ive always mostly been wrong

Yes, there’s no obvious reason not to have Ultimatte as a tool inside Fusion (as well as the completely unrelated hardware offering) but for some reason they decided to build the the brand new Delta Keyer instead – right at the point where it seemed likely they would use Ultimatte instead.

It’s a puzzle as to why they chose that option but choose it they did.

Maybe we’ll see Ultimatte added to the Fusion mix at some point though – with BMD anything is possible!
