I have been reading the community posts and want to confirm; if I’m dumping off a video (“Edit to tape”) to a camera via firewire and that camera has no TC Presets, is there a way to black that tape starting code at, say, 00:58:00:00? When I go through the “edit to tape” process- which I’ve done before but not with a firewire camera as the record deck- the “Black and Code” feature comes up but goes directly to the “Youre about to erase the entire tape…” prompt- skipping the “Initialize Tape” box where I’d punch in my desired Time Code. Comments? Thanks.

With a CAMERA? No. It isn’t designed to do this. Not to black a tape, although you can set the timecode…but that is meant for shooting. Nor is it designed for EDIT TO TAPE.

No, for this you need a DV deck, and a GOOD one. DSR-45, then the 1800 model, if you can find one (DSR-11 won’t work).
