I produce product images using Cinema 4D and the renders work perfectly as long as there are no transparent textures. When there are transparent textures, they are completely black in the multi-pass Global Illumination layer. I also do a separate render that is only AO that I use for shadows, and transparency in the composite image is black also. I’ve cranked up and down settings I can’t seem to figure out why it’s happening.

As far as I can tell the GI pass problem is caused by refraction rather than pure transparency. I don’t know of any workaround.
