See if this solution works for you.

If you have iTunes on your computer and you updated it, you now have QuickTime 7.6.6 which has screwed up every single Vegas user who’s done it.
If you don’t have iTunes but upgraded QuickTime anyway, the result is still the same 🙁
The only solution (thanks to John Rofrano!) is to uninstall the new version of QT and install an older version (preferably 7.6.4) instead.

I just went through the same thing, did this and iTunes 9 still works with this older version.

BTW, make sure any auto update features in either iTunes or QuickTime is disabled.
Apple likes to “have fun” with us PC users and we have to put a stop to this 🙂
