black “noise” in overexposed HD video
Recently when editing HD footage in Sony Vegas 8 I’m having issues with what I can only describe as spots of black “noise” in overexposed areas.
I have not been able to find any help with this online, though that may be because I don’t know how to word this problem very well. The “noise” shows up when using HD footage imported from HMC-150s as well as XHA1 DV tapes, and only shows up when the video preview is set to “FULL”.
This wouldn’t bother me, but it is evident in the final renders as well.
SO, if anyone knows what I’m trying to describe, I’d really appreciate some help with fixing it, or at least how to talk about it using more descriptive and professional terminology. I’ll post a video of what I’m talking about soon.

Here you go. It’s easier to see full screen, and the problem is much more pronounced on uncompressed renders. hope this helps a little.

Did you use curves or some other fx? I have had this happen with curves (at least I think it was curves or a newbluefx fx) when I push too far. If this is straight, uncorrected footage I am at a loss. If you are indeed using fx, uncheck them one at a time and see if you can narrow down the culprit. If you are only using one, set it back to 0 and monitor the footage as you recreate your desired look and see where the problem comes in.
