The difference in what? What were you expecting?

    What are you doing?

Capture cards enable you to capture and output footage that isn’t capturable via firewire. And it also allows you to view your footage on an external monitor. Did you expect it to make editing faster? It doesn’t do that. it isn’t an accelerator card…nothing does that.
I just wonder what you were expecting to happen. And did you read about the card enough to know what to expect?

Nope, no video card does that. The AJA Kona boards can help with some additional realtime effects when working in certain anamorphic codecs but that’s about it.

For more realtime, you need a faster hard drive array. the more speed off your hard drives, the more realtime.

BTW, Black Magic and Matrox and Motu offer the same RT as AJA…they take the expanding of anamorphic footage off of the processors and onto themselves. It is a standard thing.

But NO capture card offers any sort of RT acceleration. Not for a LONG time. They used to, but it caused other issues.

Probably not since the Pinnacle CineWave I’m guessing?

The reality is that CPU power advances faster than the custom silicon that is developed for video processing. After one generation, you end up with computers that are already faster than what the video cards could handle. Case in point: ICE. You don;t see Avid bundeling those anymore. 😉

Nope, not since then. The last version of the CineWave had realtime chroma key. As in Edit to Tape No Render required realtime chroma key and it was a beautiful thing.

Not to mention something 20 to 40 other effects that were edit to tape realtime. but Avid bought them and that was the end of that.
