  • Black Magic Intensity Pro – Firmware Update Error

Posted by Tyler Macdonald on November 19, 2011 at 3:58 pm

I bought a Black Magic Intensity Pro recently. Installed it, and when I installed the software, it told me I needed to update firmware.

I am running as an admin, with UAC disabled. As soon as the drivers were installed (and the firmware update popped up), my computer started lagging violently.

After 20 minutes of Updating the firmware, my computers clock was about 15 minutes behind. Finally I got an error telling me I could not install the firmware, and I should restart and try again.

I did as it instructed, but the same result happened. If I uninstall the software, or Uninstall the drivers from device manager, the lag stops completely.

Some of the suggested solutions I tried to no avail:

    0) Disabling UAC / Anti Virus, and running as admin.
    1) Fresh Install of windows, with only Gfx, intensity, 1 hdd, 2 sticks of ram connected.
    2) Switch Bios PnP settings to Operating system rather than bios controlled.
    3) Swap the PCI-E port used to one of the other free ones.
    4) Copying drivers, Uninstalling Black Magic, and trying to install the drivers manually through Device Manager. (This results in a BSOD memory dump).

    System Specs
Operating System: Windows 7 Professions, 64bit.
    Motherboard: Crosshair IV Formula
    CPU: AMD Phenom ™ II X6 1090T 3.21GHz
    Ram: 8 Gb DDR3
    Video Card: Radeon HD 6900

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also found out, if I do not upgrade firmware, but instead just leave it as is. The card is picked up by all software.

My computer still lags, and my CPU usage eventually goes up to 95 – 100%. and my clock still slows down severely.

Also while this is happening mouse is jittery, and my ping is very high.

It is not listed on the compatibility list, but all the ones listed there are old. It is listed for as a “Verified” setup for the Shuttle.

Also I know someone streaming with the same Mobo and CPU as me, with an older video card and it works on his. So I’m assuming it is.

    Thanks for the quick response.
