Hey guys, we recently all upgraded our rigs to FCP 7.0.3 and our new workflow when ingesting P2 footage is with P2CMS > Raylight > FCP.

There’s a weird issue I’m getting when using DVCPROHD 720p/24 for my default sequence. I can see all footage and audio fine in the viewer before I throw it into the timeline, but when I finally do, I get a black canvas. I’ve made sure that I’m showing image or image+wireframe so that’s not the problem.

The only way I can get the footage to work again in the timeline, is by changing my footage to Uncompressed 8-bit, putting the footage into the timeline (I can NOW see the footage in the canvas) then changing the sequence to 720p/24. Why is this happening? I don’t want to trash my preferences EVERY time just so I can see the footage just starting off like I normally did with FCP with my 720p sequence settings.

    What is Raylight?

Raylight allows to edit straight from the .mxf file instead of having to log and transfer in FCP and create .mov files.

It’s quick and easy and you maintain the original card structures of the cards you ingest from P2CMS.

    Maybe something with multiple cards?
Have you tried dropping the footage onto a timeline and let FCP select the preset to see if that may work?

I have tried dragging the footage and letting it go native (native with our clips are 1080i/60i). It still usually goes black ARGH!
