black after importing
Hi,
I want to import .mov files into my project. That works fine except a few. I can import them but they stay black. I can see and hear them in the finder but in fcpx it stays black.
Does anyone know how to solve this?

Hey Adriaan,
That sounds and looks like a problem with the “wrapping of the codec” used for the file.
Does it play-back outside of FCPX, like in VLC or similar?
If it does, only suggestion that I can make is to try and encode it to ProRes or similar outside of FCPX and then re-import the files.

Yes, I can play it on VLC so I will check if it is an encode issue.

Haven’t got my FCPX open, but plays back fine on VLC.
Have re-encoded it for you to ProResHQ through Adobe Media Encoder.

Yes now it works..
So I have to re-encode it to ProResHQ next time!

I used Adobe Media Encoder for the job.
As you have the “new” file, I will delete from my folder so it is not left out in public.
