I know lots of other people have this issue, where simply typing a search term into the search field in Premiere takes a long time. Literally 2-5 seconds for EACH LETTER typed to appear.

So…it’s not much better with Premiere Pro CC on my machine. So the question is: what can be done about it? Is there some CPU-intensive analysis or additional work that Premiere is doing on a search that can be turned off? All I want is simple text search, which should be nearly instant, I would think.

If it matters, I have an early 2008 Mac Pro with two 3GHz Quad-Core Xeon processors and 16GB of RAM. The project and all files are on a RAID, not the system drive. And the computer, while it isn’t the newest, performs very well in general. Renders are relatively quick, playback is smooth, everything about Premiere’s performance is fine except search.

Oh, and the project does have about 1200 stills plus dozens of video clips. But that’s not really very much when you think about it!
