    Hello there,

I have a Chinese client who has asked to prepare some masters for a spot we have created for them. I just received the masters list and all sound requests refers BFS. I’m used to working internally in DBFS and i have a chart for several meters i use to adjust accordingly. I haven’t come across BFS though and im struggling to sniff any reference of it anywhere. Is BFS the same as DBFS?

Any advice would be gratefully received. thank you in advance.

I’d imagine it was a typo and it’s supposed to say “dBFS”. Do the levels make sense in dBFS? If it asks for anything over zero it can’t be, but I can’t find info on a BFS scale. Mind you, I’m having trouble finding readable Chinese broadcast specs.

    Hi JC,

Thanks for your response. I think your right i can’t find anything on the BFS scale. They are requesting -10 to -20 on one set and -20 to -30 on another. The Chinese producer here seems to think its probably the case, so fingers crossed. Thanks again for your quick reply.

Those levels make perfect sense as dBFS. The trouble a typo can cause!
