    Arnie,

I only upgraded one of 27 macs to QT7 and then did with no more. Its all of the machines that I didn’t upgrade to QT 7 but DID upgrade to 10.3.9 that I am SOL with. Apple wants me to pay for the QT pro upgrades (27 times $27.99) because they broke my QT without warning me and wont make it right. I should throw in some lube so they can gracefully remove their heads from their a$$e$.

All I can say is that my experience has been different. I upgraded to 10.3.9 when it came out, but have stayed with QT 6.5.2, & all is well. But, that’s my setup. Clearly yours are different.

Upgrading to FCP 5 (I upgraded to FCP Studio) will “Pro” your QT 7 in the process.

    Mike,

I will echo what other people are saying and you are not really hearing…

You do not need QT 7 if you are running 10.3.9. QT 6.5 works just fine.

I hate to be one of the people going “nyah nyah nyah…it works for me…nya nyah nyah” but it DOES work for me. And it works for several OTHER people as well. This would suggest that something else is up…something else is causing your woes. Sure, it might have happened when you did the upgrade, but the upgrade might have caused the problems in other ways.

I don’t know what else to say that will convince you.

We have 2 FCP systems. The system I use every day, as the only user, works fine with 10.3.9. The other system is the one with the problems in opening a single FCP project. This one project on the other system is the reason I tried downgrading to 10.3.8.

BTW I tried opening the problem project on the other system today and it wouldn’t open. I’ve trashed preferences, reinstalled FCP and the OS and thrown away all render files but it doesn’t like to open after saving a new version. Any other ideas on causes for this? The project file is about 22 MB and contains many nests and unused footage files. Could the file bloat be causing the opening problems?
