  • Beveling the booleaned text

Posted by Cem Gul on September 28, 2013 at 12:23 pm

I need proper beveled edges for the text subtracted from a sphere but I got jaggy edges when I make the object editable to add bevel.
Spline mask method works well for extruded objects but sphere is what I need.
Any idea will be appreciated. Thanks

Beveling and booleans don’t get along in C4D, unfortunately. Maybe you could try a displacement map instead?

RBoole – https://www.plugins4cinema4d.com/rboole.html – can do clean booles that don’t show any artifacting from cut polys
It’s not free (but not expensive) and it does have limits (sometimes objects have to be editable etc) – your rendered scene, which is obviously a lot more complex than the Boole-Sphere-MoText you have showed us might need some work but it should render well. Can you post the final scene (just the single S part in the lower left image don’t need texture or environment) I could see if RBoole will handle it cleanly

this is the difference between Boole and RBoole

with texture and lights and a Sky for environment specially made to enhance the boole’s limitations. There seems to be something wrong with the file as I have trouble getting RBoole to work without making the MoText editable (which is where the pics come from) but if I recreate the scene in a new document a MoText works fine – though I had to use an alternate S – what is the font you are using?

    Helvetica Rounded Bold Oblique

not one I have, but either way it’s working when I create the object from scratch with whatever font I use in the MoText

Thank you Brian I’ll give Rboole a try.
    Cheers
