    Hello all,

Does anyone know, of all the different ways to import footage, is one more “stable” than another?

    Thanks for any help!

Using Media Browser covers all your bases all the time. May not be necessary for things that don’t live in a camera-card environment, but you should just do it that way all the time in my opinion.

Agree completely with Paul, and add – if your source is card-based, it is important to maintain the complete card folder/file structure.

    System:
    Dell Precision T7600 (x2)
    Win 7 64-bit
    32GB RAM
Adobe CC 2017.1 (as of 8/2017)
    256GB SSD system drive
4 internal media drives RAID 5
Typically cutting short form from UHD MP4, HD MP4, and HD P2 MXF.

If the file is 100% self contained you can use import.

If the file is not 100% contained (spanned clips, complex directories, external metadata files, etc) then Media Browser is the way to go because Premiere can properly identify the clips/structure before trying to import.
