Best/Fastest Render Format for HD Video?
I film using my Sony Camcorder, which produces .m2ts files. I merge/splice them together to make sports highlight videos. Using Vegas, I have typically rendered the final product using the “Sony AVC/MVC” format to produce a .m2ts file that looks very good.
Initially, I merge the files of a particular game together, and use SV to add a watermark as well. I then put the video online for people to look at, and each “raw footage with watermark” game is 30+ minutes. Later on, when they tell me what clips they want, I’ll make the highlight video of 3-5 minutes.
I realize now, however, that the “raw footage with watermark” video does not need to be the highest quality possible. It just needs to be reasonably good HD quality for someone to sift through. Therefore, I’m looking for a render format that is faster than what I have been using. When I make the final highlight video (which is much shorter in duration), I then want it to be the highest quality possible.
Therefore, I am asking:
1. What is the fastest render format I can use that will produce reasonbly good HD quality video? For a 30 minute video, the “Sony AVC/MVC” format can take 2.5 hours to process. To clarify, I did “Internet 720p” under this format. I experimented and tried the “MainConcept AVC/AAC” format, and it looks like it would take a little more than 90 minutes or so. Again, it doesn’t need to be the best resolution possible – just reasonably good HD picture than processes as FAST as possible.
2. When I make my final highlight video (which will always be under 10 minutes), is the “Sony AVC/MVC” format the best choice to produce the highest quality HD video for my final product?
I am most concerned with Question #1. I want to put something out there that is reasonably good to look at, but that I can produce as quickly as possible.
Thanks in advance for any help.
