I have a scene where my hand is holding a bottle of ink and I pour the ink onto a white canvas. I use the videocopilot.net footage of an ink bleed to reveal a map on the canvas. My question is, should I go about doing this the old fashioned way by making a mask around the hand and canvas with the pen tool and tween it for each frame. Or is there a better way? The lighting really sucks… the hand and canvas are close to the same brightness, but their color values are only slightly different (the hand being more red). Any mask pros out there with feedback? Thanks a ton!

(the scene is only for about 9 seconds, so I don’t mind doing frame by frame if I have to)

perhaps this can help, here’s a screenshot of my project:

I haven’t put the graphic for the map yet, but I’m going to track it to the white piece of paper and have the blending options of the ink layer reveal it. The ink will spread to cover the corners of the white paper. The tedious task is masking my hand out of the way as you can see.
