Best way to fix lines through video
Hello cow members,
I am editing an interview on FCP6 (6.0.4 Academic)
The problem is that I don’t know what format the video was shot in. Analyzing the footage in After Effects i got this: 720 x 480 (1.20) , Seperating lower – 23.976 fps 3:2 Removal – dv/dvcpro ntsc.So what I need to fix is the lines going though my subject when he moves around in the interview. Even the smallest movements cause the lines to occur. Here is a screenshot I uploaded.
https://i36.tinypic.com/r1zous.pngI have tried the de-interlace filter, which sorta helps but only to sacrifice the quality in other parts of the picture. Like jagged edges in his arm. ahh!
***I should add that my final output will be Web****
Any help is much appreciated.

You either captured the footage improperly or your settings on your timeline are wrong.
As a test, open a new timeline, drop a clip from the browser onto the timeline, when the message comes up asking if you want FCP to match the timeline settings to the footage say yes. Then report back here and tell if the same issue stil exist.

Ok I just did what you told me and I’m still getting those lines. I guess I captured the footage wrong? How do I properly capture?
The way I originally did it was by going to the “Easy Setup” window and putting it in:
Format: NTSC
Rate: 23.98
Use: DV-NTSC 24p (23.98) -
Why don’t you try to capture a few seconds using the standard DV NTSC anamorphic capture settings, then check that out on a new timeline as I suggested before.

Hey David,
Thanks again for your help. I’ve been gone but I am back and working on this interview again. So I recaptured using the standard DV NTSC anamorphic capture settings as you suggested but my footage is still getting lines through it during jerky movements by the subject.
I would love to remedy this or at least try to make it look better.

anyone? anyone? Or are these lines showing up because I’m watching it on my laptop’s screen? (mac book pro 17in)
