  • Best way to convert prores 720p50 to PAL 50i MPEG

We have made a production which was shot in 720p50 and edited in a prores. For the playout system we use PAL MPEG2 5mbps cbr program streams. We exported the prores sequences to compressor which converts it to the above MPEG. Since the source was shot on 720p50 you would expect a nice 50i mpeg version, but somehow it seems it doesn’t play as 50i more like 25p. Whats the best way to convert 720p50 sequences to PAL 50i mpeg’s. With other source material like IMX50 or DV-PAL we don’t have this problem.

Are you setting the “Frame Control: ON” in Compressor?

    Sorry for the late reaction.

Yes I did some tests with frame conversion, but I’m not really sure what settings to use. Are there standard procedures for creating 50i mpeg’s?
