    hi everyone!! i didn’t know what is the correct way to describe what am looking for.. sorry.
    basically i have over 1000 frame of black ink on top of whit paper.

    I want to color the background in a gray tone using after effect.. so i need some technique to help me select an area within a black border.

    so i can have a result somehow like this

    any ideas!?

    Start by trying the Paint Bucket effect:

    You can also try the arduous task of rotoscoping the drawings.
