  • Best way to clone P2 cards to disk?

Hi there, I’ll be starting a shoot using a HPX2000 camera and P2 cards, I’ve never shot with P2 cards before and am wondering what the best method to backup/offload everything on the fly in the field is?

I plan to have a P2 card reader connected to a MacBook Pro laptop which will assist in the transfer to two different external hard drives for safe keeping.

As P2 technology has been around for a while now,it seems that there is a wide range of options/techniques to actually transfer the card contents to a HDD using a Mac.

From the Adobe website, it sounds like the best option is to use the Panasonic P2CMS program to offload to a backup HDD, but other options I have read include using the Mac disk utility to create a clone of each card or just dragging and dropping all files from each card to the destination drive. It seems that getting a verified copy is of utmost importance.

Can anyone suggest what method is most reliable and will preserve all of the original card data without modification?

    Thanks for any suggestions!

P2CMS copies and verifies the P2 media.
    As does Shotput pro.

Verify is much better then manual drag/copy.

You can also hook up a USB drive to the cam in the field and dump card media off onto the HD.

I second Shotput Pro. And BULLETPROOF is supposed to be great too.
