    I purchased a used Powerbook G4:

    Powerbook G4 15″
    CPU: PowerPC G4 (1.2)
    speed: 1.67 GHZ
    Cache 512
    RAM 1GB
    Bus Speed 167 MHz

It came with Tiger installed and sometimes it gets into this funny mode where I can’t open apps such as iTunes, Preview, etc… strange behaviour which disappears when I restart. It also didn’t come with iMovie installed. I plan to install FCP on it, so I would like to know: should I re-install the OS, this time with the more humble Panther? I have various operating system versions as well as FCP versions to match them. Or should I bump it up to Leopard? Or stay Tiger?
I ask because I know that Tiger probably didn’t even exist when this machine came out, so perhaps this OS is not the best option for performance and stability?

    Thanks,
    Alan
