Best V1U capture and edit settings for web in fcp

Editing HDV natively is not a big deal, but it’s not a good idea either. FCP has to conform it to update the GOP structure. It’s a bad editing format. Change your sequence settings to ProRes or 8 bit uncompressed. Or, capture to ProRes via firewire in the first place.

I edit ProRes on a MacBook Pro all the time. Which one do you have?

You might want more RAM though, it’s a RAM intensive process.

Sory if My thanks are a little bit late but everything worked properly without having to add any memory folowing your answers.

I can edit the prores very easily now.

I have another question now and I’ve read most of the pôsts but still have questions concerning the 30p settings and or capacities of my v1u.

I shoot with the v1U as you already know but I’ve used the dvcam format puting the progressive feature on at 30p

I’ve captured using a Dv-ntsc easy set up

a) it doesn’t batch capture, but can only capture now as a single clip
b) It seem to intorudce a lot of artifacts on any movement whic I want to avoid hence, why I shoot in 30p, since it’s also all going to the web and will be converted to flv after.

My editing screens are lcd. And since i’m keeping everything progressive why do I keep seeing interlacing?

When I capture shoudn’t my settings be 720p30?
