Any advice on if I should purchase a FCP Studio 2 complete editing system now or better after first of year?

Not sure if upgrades are right around corner on software, G5, etc…

    Thanks!

3 calender dates to watch out for, MacWorld, NAB & WWDC. If something is to be introduced for us editors, its normally at one of those.

Best time to purchase is when you need it. Waiting forever does no good in the long run. Those three dates that Peter mentioned are good dates to know, but MacWorld is more of a consumer based show so it’s rare that anything for the pro’s is introduced there.

WWDC is more likely to introduce a new desktop. NAB is more likely to introduce new software, though right now Apple is off the Exhibitor List for NAB.

Waiting for Apple to drop a new shoe is not a viable decision process. buy what you need when you need it but consider the less obvious financial opporutnites of the American tax system. Talk to your accountant first. There may be far more benefit to your bottom line to make your e purchases with 2007 cash. She may know of other tax or capitalization options you should consider.
