Best tablet for AE?
Posted by Olly Lawer on April 29, 2012 at 1:25 pmHi,
Found this tablet. Mixed reviews. Is there anything I need to be aware of when looking at different tablets for AE?

April 29, 2012 at 2:39 pmI prefer tablets that have a few buttons on them. You can map certain functions to those buttons and that can be handy.
Otherwise I’m just a big fan of tablets, great for roto work and it’s just a lot less stress on the wrist if you have to do this all day long. I use my mine for for everything, AE, Avid, Photoshop…. Strangely we have 4 edit bays at work and 4 different tablets(just bought them at different times. This is the one I like best one, for now, until the next new one comes out.

April 29, 2012 at 2:45 pmThis pleases me as it’s not £500 as the others I looked at. To be fair, they were A3.
So, this is A4 right? I have a 27inch iMac. Do you think it’ll be ok with that?

April 29, 2012 at 3:04 pmI use that one on a 25″ dual monitor system(Avid). I think it’s an A4, I know it’s not one of the A3’s.
Here’s a pretty cool article for helping to decide on which tablet to get: https://gearoracle.com/guides/how-to-choose-wacom-pen-tablet/

The whole unit is about A4-sized; the active area on the tablet is closer to A6.
I am comfortable with an Intuos Medium on a 30″ screen. I wouldn’t go smaller.

April 30, 2012 at 1:48 pmGreat. So is the Intuos Medium the one you just described? With the actual pad size being closer to A6?

Sorry, no — I was describing the Bamboo model you linked to.
The active area on the Intuos4 Medium that I have here is about A5.

April 30, 2012 at 4:59 pmHi,
OK great. So is yours the input pen only or the more expensive one?

May 2, 2012 at 9:30 pmMaybe it’s just the thought of RSI lately, but my wrist is starting to ache and feel uncomfortable, so I’m thinking I’m going to bite the bullet and buy a medium Walcom – see link above.
Do you think I would benefit from the touch and pen one as opposed to just the pen one?
