    Hey guys,

So what are the best settings for final cut pro to use with DVCPRO 1080i/24p off of a P2 card. I have already uploaded the footage and just need to make sure that all of my timeline settings and everything are correct for editing. Also, it is advantageous to use 1080i/24pA? I have an HPX170.

    Thanks everyone,
    Matt

Did you shoot 1080i 24pA? If so, then when you import into FCP the footage will be 1080p 23.98fps. If you shot regular 1080i24p, then your footage has the 24 frame look, but runs at 29.97fps. Good if your deliverable is a 1080i 59.94 master.

OK…best settings? Just cut a clip into FCP and let it set it for you. Or you can go into the Easy Setups and choose DVCPRO HD 1080i60. But it is best to let FCP set this for you. FCP 6 does this.

    Hi Shane,

When I do this, my footage looks jagged, interlaced on some frames. This is because of the 3:2 pulldown right? Is this OK? OR do I have to remove anything?

That’s the 3:2 pulldown. It will look fine on an external monitor. Computer monitors are Progressive only, so they don’t display interlacing very well. But it looks fine.

isnt 24p, progressive? Im getting the same jaggies, I put a deinterlace filter on the clip and it goes away.
My master is going to a sd dvd and a mpeg4, will the jaggies be there on the master?
