best settings for 3 camera shoot
I have a project coming up that will use three cameras;
-two Sony Z1Us
-one Cannon HV20i would love to utilize the 24p mode on the HV20, but i don’t want it to screw up the the Z1U footage either visually or technically.
I know i don’t want to use the Cineframe24 mode on the Sony-i anticipate needing to do slo-mo with a lot of the footage and Cineframe24 has totally screwed me in the past. i have heard excellent things about Cineframe25 but haven’t used it before and am not completely confident in the workflow to get PAL footage to display well on an NTSC.
so, my question is what are the settings on the cameras (and the FCP workflow) that will allow me to use the 24p functionality on HV20, avoid Cineframe24 on the Z1Us, and get footage that will display well for an NTSC delivery.

Don’t do it. Don’t use the 24p mode on the HV20, because no matter what, it won’t match the look of the Sony cameras. Unless you want to have that one camera that you cut to for the effected look…like the concert videos that cut to that one black and white camera. If you want all your cameras to be like a matched three camera shoot, then set them all to 1080i60. Do not shoot 24p, because you are right, the Sony way is B-A-D.
If you REALLY want to, you can get the “film look” in post, either with plugins (nattress FILM EFFECTS) or reverse telecine the footage with Cinema Tools to get 23.98 footage or Compressor…the choices are numerous.
But your basic job is to get three matching cameras. And you are already hindered by the fact that one is a different brand and model. Unless you want that 24p look. You can always import that at 1080i60 and it will still have the look.
