Working on a video that will be projected using a Sanyo projector with highest res of 1024×768 onto a 14′ wide screen. Looking for any advice from folks on settings and such for best quality playback from a laptop.

Also, can I assume with setting up a projector that I can pretty much ignore safe area and know exact image area?

Since we will have 3 videos, a couple of powerpoints, as well as some individual slides for some speakers we’re looking at a reliable playback software. One person recommended Song Show Plus and said that even though it’s for churches it works pretty well for queuing a variety of media. Any other options anyone is aware of?

    Thanks,

FWIW, I regularly do projection on screens ranging from 10 ft. to 40 ft. and always use a regular DVD that I’ve authored using Vegas & DVDA for playback.
Projectors have ranged from cheap (under 2,000 lumens) to semi-pro (around 5,000 lumens).
Other than washed out images in large rooms with a cheap projector, no one has complained but me 🙂

If this is a one-time event, I question the need for playback software as the good stuff is never cheap and will have a learning curve that you may not want.

Most of what they see will depend upon room lighting and the projector’s capabilities. I would suggest that you use a DVD and move as close as possible to the screen with the projector and not try to fill the entire screen. That will improve the brightness and perceived contrast.

Thanks to you both. Turned out they had an older NTSC projector. Lots of lumens, not so much resolution. I re-rendered for NTSC which looked good on the projector considering, but the tech accidentally played the 720p DVI version. Lots of pixelation, but that’s life.

    Thanks again for your help!
