    Hello there,

It’s been a while since I’ve done any serious color keying in After Effects. I used to do most of my stuff with the linear color keyer, but fooled around with Ultimatte back in the day, (if that is still around).

I am planning a project where I am intending to do a lot of color keying and would like to get the very best quality possible. I was just reading about Keylight. Is that the keying solution that most people are using now? From what I’ve seen about it, it looks pretty good. What are your perceptions?

If that is what is recommended by the experts around here, I will go with that. What about third party products? Anything worth considering?

    Thanks and best wishes,

    Joe.

    Hi Joe,

Keylight is the plug-in that comes with After Effects and works well for most keying jobs.

If you need something more I really like Ultimatte, but Primatte works well too. Depending on your budget it’s probably worth just sticking with Keylight.
