I’m shooting in HD on a DSLR camera and wanted to know what were the best export settings to get it as close to the highest quality as I can. When I export my work as mpegs I’m noticing a significant quality loss.

Best settings for what? Archiving? Streaming video? Broadcast?

Best settings as a file to watch online and for archiving.

H.264 for online viewing, and either ProRes or DNxHD for archiving. There really isn’t one codec that will do everything.
