best portable 2.5″ SSD enclosure (with USB 3 or thunderbolt)
Something like the Firmtek U3 would be great b/c it was very fast (400+ MB/s), you could swap out the drives quickly (in theory anyway), and it could run off the bus power from its USB 3 port. Unfortunately, it didn’t work for me and my m500 SSD so I returned it.
So, is there another option out there with this kind of speed and some of the other features? Have looked at the Oyen Minipro and the OWC Elite Pro Mini but both would mount the SSD semi-permanently and both require external power.
Any other options or suggestions? Thanks ahead of time for any help.

We use a lot of the Seagate Thunderbolt adapter units (~$99). Powered by the Thunderbolt bus. they work with both spinning and SSD units and we have them all over. They are dead-end units, though.

I would recommend Sabrent https://geeklah.com/best-hard-drive-docking-station.html#one. I bought it for my Evo 850 and it works well. Additionally, I use this SSD as bootable external drive. Speed of the drive in enclosure is very close to original speed.
Also my friend has this one from Cable Matters https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-Docking-Station-Support/dp/B0099TX7O4. Quite good.
