Best PCI Express config. on a Quad G5 with Kona 3 and SATA II card?
Hi,
I’m about to install a Kona 3 card and a Sonnet X4P SATA II card into my Quad G5 Powermac.
What’s the scoop on which slots to install the cards in to take advantage of the different slot speeds in a Quad G5?
Anyone have any advice on problems they encountered installing these cards?Thanks in advance,

Put the Kona in Slot 4 (top slot, fastest slot) and the SATA in one of the other slots.

Pay attention to the installation instructions that come with the various cards. Kona 3 requires a 4 lane slot, and there are two of these in the Quad. The slots are clearly marked with their speed (4x, 8x, etc….) so just follow the manufacturer’s instructions and you’ll be good to go.
