    Hi,
We are outputting an hour-long documentary from our Adrenaline (MC 3). We need to create a Digibeta master. We don’t have a calibrated monitoring system to be sure our master would be up to specs, so we would rather not rent a deck and do it ourselves. We could output to BetaSP and have it transferred. We could also create an uncompressed QT. What would be the best way to do this?

    Thank you!

If you can’t monitor while dumping to DigiBeta, how will you monitor dumping to BetaSP?

I’d say export a same as source Quicktime or uncompressed to a hard drive and take it to a finishing house. Have them check it to meets specs and make your dubs.

Thanks for the quick response! I don’t have an SDI monitor. I can check component out, but not SDI. Also, I would rather have them checking with calibrated scopes. One person I talked to said that you would not see a difference between BetaSP to Digi vs. uncompressed QT to Digi. That sounds like crazy talk to me. Yes, no?

Where are you located? This sounds like a job for Digital Service Station.

    Terence,
Good suggestion. I’m in Chicago and I’m familiar with the local affiliate of your company. I didn’t know they did this, so this is a good resource. My boss decided to go the “safe” route and put it to BetaSP and then transfer to DigiBeta. I’d still like to get someone’s opinion on how noticeable the quality would be using these different choices.

    Thanks!

    Brett
