    Hi,

I’ve found a great workflow using H.264 for a QT Conversion, but now need to find a great workflow for creating high quality flash videos – preferably also being able to add HREF Tracks either before or after compression.

I have FCP (inc compressor etc), After Effects and QT Pro. Can I use these tools to convert, or would you recommend buying some additional software.

Your help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

H.264 (virtually any extension) works in Flash and has since December 2007 (more than two years ago). Yes even H.264 .mov files work in Flash players. I speak from first hand experience.

To add interactivity drop it in any Flash editor just as one used to do with FLV files. The only advantage FLV still has it that it supports alpha channels whereas H.264 Flash does not.

BTW for those keeping score H.264 as of last year also works in Microsoft Silverlight. They’re also extension agnostic.

In fact H.264 with any of the following extensions should work in all the above: MP4, M4A, MOV, MP4V, 3GP, 3G2

Translation: H.264 .mov will work in Flash, Silverlight, Quicktime.
