Best HD Workflow for web and DVD
Posted by Antony Lyons on April 15, 2009 at 5:04 pmHi I’m looking for the best HD Workflow in FinalCut Studio 2 for delivery to the Web via Youtube and DvD. I’m shooting on the Sony Z1U.

April 15, 2009 at 5:12 pmEdit, export self contained movie w/ current settings.
Take movie to Compressor, encode for YouTube to their specs. Encode m2v and ac3 for DVD authoring.

April 15, 2009 at 6:11 pmGet out of HDV as soon as possible. Capture as ProRes 422.

April 15, 2009 at 6:37 pmIs There a Difference in capturing in ProRess 422 or ProRess 422 HQ

April 15, 2009 at 7:07 pmIt is recommended that you stay away from HQ, there have been capture and rendering associate with it and there is not a huge benefit in quality.
Setting need to match for frame rate and frame size.

April 29, 2009 at 11:06 amBe careful when using ProRes 422. An hour of HDV takes up about 13GB of space where ProRes 422 takes about 65GB of space. Also, HDV’s data rate is 3.75MB/sec versus ProRes 422 at 27.5MB/sec. If you system can handle those two things, then ProRes 422 is superior in all other ways.
