Best Format?
I do about 2 video projects a year…both in a 3-month period, so I don’t keep brushed up on my skills in Premiere Pro 2.0 except for those 3 months.
What’s the best format to save a movie file if I’m going to add all the segments to a DVD? What will give me the best quality and will be the easiest to transfer into working on Adobe Encore DVD 2.0?
I appreciate all opinions and insight…

The best format would be Mpeg 2 DVD as Encore would not recompress the video again. But that presents other challenges;
1. You will need to know the eventual length of the project to calculate the bitrate of each segment.
2. I have had problems in Encore, adding multiple segments to one timeline. Creating multiple timelines (one for each segment) creates a small glitch during playback. It works better if you fade to black at the end of each segment and up from black at the beginning of the next.
If you have dozens of segments, things can get crazy with “end actions” in Encore.Better bet; just leave Premiere’s project open until you are ready to finish.

If you are not aware of the final duration of the project or you don’t know about MPEG2 compression, I’d suggest exporting the files as AVI and letting Encore deal with it.
