Best fluid simulator
Posted by Victor Camacho guerrero on December 13, 2013 at 4:14 pmthese days I am thinking to learn some fluid simulations.
I have already DPIT , but i am not sure which is the best in the market. Is worth to learn Realflow? or is better to stick with any plugin?

December 13, 2013 at 4:47 pmAs far as I understand it, Realflow is pretty industry standard. However, Houdini has some pretty awesome fluid tools in it as well. The learning curve may be steeper with Houdini, but it can do much much more than just fluids. There’s also a learning edition available for free so you can test drive it.

December 13, 2013 at 5:22 pmI see. In all big house productions here in london, they were recommeding Houdini, but it could be great to know how much time I would need to spend in order to learn.
would you recommend any of the plugin from C4D to learn?

December 13, 2013 at 7:21 pmIf you already have DPIT Effex then I would start with that. It is the most complete liquid simulator for Cinema (not counting Realflow, which is more of an import plugin). The only other option is X-Particles which is easy to use but pretty basic.
Another option would be to check out Blender, which is free. It has a liquid simulator but I’ve never tried it.
