    Hi,

I’m producing a series of 20minute downloadable self help video programs for a subscriber based website. We’ll shoot them in DV, and I’ll be using Final Cut 5 and Motion for postproduction. I have several good compression programs (QuickTime Pro, Compressor, Sorenson Squeeze 4, and Compression Master), but I’m just not sure about encoding for maximum cross platform compatibility. I’m assuming that I’ll probably need to make more than one version of each video, but the questions are, how many versions and what are the best codecs to reach the Windows masses?

    Any ideas or suggestions?

    Jeff

You know, I’ve found that the newest trend is Flash video. I really like it.

You can really tweak the settings on it and it’s cross platform. Plus it
integrates with flash so well that you can time graphics with it or use a
funky mask over the video while it plays.

Now you can even buy an encoder program without having to buy flash. I think
    it called on2 technologies.

Go check out youtube.com to see lower res video, then go check out the davinci code site which can actually stream full screen video to you if you have a high speed connection.
