Best Cross-Platform Export Settings?
I am a wedding videographer and am now providing USB flash drives instead of DVDs. I’m having trouble finding a happy medium on which codec to use for my clients. I’d like it to be playable on both PCs and Macs.
I have both a Mac and a PC that can be used to export out.
My current export settings are the QT container with H.264 codec>1920×1080>24fps>render maximum depth>Keyframe every 1 frame>Limit data rate to 25000 kbps.
I shoot on a Canon 5D Mark III (All-I w/24fps) and Mark II. Will soon be shooting on a Canon C100.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Mainly wanting to keep file size down but attempt to keep as much of the quality as possible. I know the H.264 is highly compressed and I feel like I am losing a good bit of quality with going this route.

Choose H.264 from the format drop down menu instead of Quicktime.
Set your bit rate to VBR 2 pass at around 15 Mb/s/ max 20. You can go lower if most shots are steady or on sticks.
That should get you a pretty good export quality.

I recommend setting Key Frame Distance to 12 frames instead of every frame.

Thanks Ivan. I have tried that along with the other settings and it works great. Now I just hope it gets along with my clients PCs & MACs
