We are planning to digitize our taped format and also media manage our tape less format, main aim is to digitize it in two different codecs- one in Photo Jpeg and the other one in Apple pro res HQ.

The aim to digitize one in Photo Jpeg that is a higher format is to store it for future use and apple pro res HQ for editing purpose.

Are there better codec formats for both the purpose that can be used both in FCP7 and Adobe Premiere Pro 6?

Also what is the best possible codec to edit both in FCP and Adobe Premiere Pro?

    Thanks

Apple pro res HQ is a fine choice for now.

Thinking long term though, FCP is EOL.
If you end up on a machine years down the road with FCP, you’ll need to acquire the ProRes codec to read those archives. But if you know this going forward it’s not a big deal.
