    Hi

I have some tapes coming in on DVCAM/DV to edit with. As it is a 2 day edit I want to digitize it in at online resulution.

I have Blackmagic Decklink HD Pro Dual Link card.

I wil either use Sony HVR M25 E and digitize it firewire or I the Panasonic AJ-1400 and digitize it SDI. it will depend on deck availability.

Would it be Uncommpressed 8 bit(firewire) or Blackmagic NTSC DV uncompressed 8 bit (SDI). Not sure.

    Thanks

    Zeliha,

The whole idea of “DV” (and subsequently DVCPRO) is to import, edit and export in the “native” codec. This way there is no longer any destinction between “off-line” and “on-line”; you only edit once.

It is therefore the normal workflow to do all this without “converting” to SD or HD-SDI at least until the output. This will preserve the quality best!

    Hi John

    Thans for the reply

[john sharaf] “The whole idea of “DV” (and subsequently DVCPRO) is to import, edit and export in the “native” codec.”

Does the above mean use DV NTSC codec via firewire?

    Thanks

    Zee.
