best chroma key softare?
Hi- I’ve used Serious Magic Ultra at a previous workplace and when looking to buy for my personal toolkit found out that Adobe is not selling separately. Some folks like Keylight that comes with After Effects, but both options are pricey. What do folks recommend for the best, forgiving, and reasonable (attributes the Serious Magic Ultra had) chroma key software? How about the FxHome CompositeLab Pro? Thanks!!

Unfortunately most of the cost-effective keying options are plugins for After Effects, Keylight being at the top of the list since it comes free with AE.
Don’t know if you’ve seen Jim Harvey’s writeup on FXHome products, but it’s a good primer. Outside of his article I’ve never heard of their products being used in a professional production, but if your budget is tight it may be an option.

I have had some success with Primatte Keyer Pro by Red Giant – better than FCP, Motion and AE plugins I was trying to work with for green screen keying. It’s also extremely user friendly.

Green Screen Wizard is very powerful on Chroma Key. There is both plugin version (for Photoshop) and a standalone version. I prefer the plugin since it combines with the functionality of Photoshop. Here’s the link: https://bit.ly/rdsJB4
