Best camera for budget of $9000

I want to take your advice to buy a professional camera

Hello Hamad,
We just took delivery of a JVC-GYHM700CHU (this is with the Fujinon 17X lens). I haven’t recorded with it yet as I am waiting for the SDHC Class 6 cards to arrive.
I think we paid just over $6000 for the cam. Did you buy one, and if so, have you used it yet?
What application (industry) will the cam be used for?

I’m currently using the JVC GY-HM700 with the Fuji 17x lens. I’ve used it to film outdoors, indoors during a church service and at a conference in a hotel ballroom.
Overall, I’m very impressed with with the camera. I’m not as high on the Fuji lens and will be waiting on the Canon 14x that was made for this camera (being released in June). I love the way the 700 sits on your shoulder. I used it without a tripod for 5 hours and didn’t feel beat up because it is so light.
The image is solid and very good for a 1/3″ camera at this price range. The switches and buttons are laid out very well and makes it feel like a pro camera. The SD cards have been reliable and the footage drops right into FCP. The flip out LCD screen looks incredible. The viewfinder is not bad but could be a little bigger.
During my conference shoot I had to add 6 to 9 db of gain and the image held up fairly well in low light, not perfect but as good as can be expected.
Overall, I’m very impressed but plan on waiting until the Canon lens is available.

I just did a demo of the hm700 and recorded audio but no video. Any Ideas why?

Check the audio select switches behind the LCD flip out. If they are on manual, you need to adjust the level with the dials above the power switch. Also check the switches above the XLR inputs. If you are using an condenser mic (including the one that comes with the camera) the switch needs to be on mic + 48v. You should be able to see audio levels in the viewfinder and LCD flip out. If not, push the status button until you see them.

The audio recorded fine I am haveing trouble getting the video off the card. What conversion software and edit system do you use?

Sorry, dyslexia must be setting in.
I’m using a Mac with Final Cut Pro so no conversion is necessary. I just drag the files off the SD card onto a hard drive and then drop them right into FCP. I’m not sure how to do it if you are on a PC or some other editing system.Jon Leyse

I did some more tests and I do have video on the card I’ll have to go to another forum to ask about how to use in vegas
