Best book for FCP beginner
Posted by Matt Surf on March 31, 2010 at 7:45 pmHi,
I’m about to turn my attention towards FCP from Sony Vegas and wondered if anyone could recommend the best book for beginners but with ability of course to improve (similar I guess to Douglas Spotted-Eagles excellent Sony Vegas Pro tome).
I am based in Uk so UK friendly would be better but I’m just after the industry ‘bible’ really, if there is such a thing.
Many thanks
Matt

March 31, 2010 at 11:16 pmTake a look at the Apple Pro Training Series (Amazon.com, etc.) Excellent tutorials on everything and the texts for Apple certification. Can’t go wrong with these.

April 1, 2010 at 2:31 pmHi Matt!
The other books mentioned are good. I highly recommend
Final Cut Pro 4 and the Art of Filmmaking (Paperback)You can buy it new for $4.08 or used for $3.36 on Amazon.com
This book includes a DVD with footage used in the book. It’s a great in depth quick start book with clearly written directions and good pictures.
It covers the interface, filters, color correction, and finishing your project. Everything you need to know to get started. This coupled with the other books will greatly increase your understanding of Final Cut Pro.

April 1, 2010 at 2:46 pmHaving previous experience with other NLEs, I think that with the book of Kevin Monahan (Motion Graphics and Effects in Final Cut Pro), you will go strait to what you are looking for.
Cheers,
