Best Betacam SP capture resolution
Posted by Ian Liuzzi-fedun on February 11, 2011 at 5:15 amWhat is the highest resolution I have to capture at to get the full resolution from a Betacam SP deck? I have a Kona card so the highest we would be taking is 10-bit SD.

February 11, 2011 at 5:36 amWell, BetaSP is an 8 bit format, so capturing 8-bit uncompressed would get you the same results as 10-bit uncompressed. But really, you need very fast drives for uncompressed. Look at ProRes NTSC…the SD ProRes setting. 10-bit quality but lower data rate. It’ll look the same.
