Best Audio Compression for Mp3?
I have some audio recordings I would like to make into mp3 cds. Each cd should hold about ten hours of audio.
I am looking for a good compression tool for the mac to achieve this? Do you have any recommendations?
Are all compressors equal? For example, if I choose a bit rate of 128kbps will all compressors compress it so the size is the same or will some compressors be able to achieve the same bit rate, but smaller file size?

Hello HD, and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum.
Here’s what I know as a Mac user.
iTunes works, but you have to dial in the right parameters in the preferences>import pane. 128 stereo should be fine. HIgher is better. Do NOT use the enhancer. They should have called it the phase mangler.
VBR is OK. Use Best or Tweekhead (slowest) encoder.
Also know that the player make a difference. iTunes and Quicktime can make the same file sound a bit different during play back.
