    What’s the best way to take a 2D layer in AE and bend it into a 3D shape, like a light bulb or something similar (not a circle). Must you buy a product or go through the Cinema 4D plug-in?

    Cinema 4D or Element 3D. The latter isn’t a modeling program per se (although it happens to include a light bulb model in the install) but can create quite a variety of objects with the built-in primitives. But if you need to build more complex 3D objects yourself, Cinema 4D is the way to go.
