I have come up with a much better solution to an ongoing modeling problem but I still need help.

The following link goes to a zipped sample file:

    https://www.pixelspowerandlight.com/sample.c4d.zip

I need to bend or deform a straight object into a semi circle. The sample file contains both the straight object and the curved object i am trying to match.

The final object needs to be able to bend, stretch and twist.

I had tried this earlier using a bone chain to try and bend the curved object but wasn’t able to get what i needed when i tried to animate it.

I tried using a FFD deformer but wasnt getting what i needed.

I am wondering if its possible to combine the bend and twist deformers on one object?

    Some help would be appreciated

A combination of deformers perhaps. Something like that…

It helped a lot to see the actual piece earlier there. In case you hadn’t already thought of it, it might be a lot easier to animate the bend first then match the screwdriver to that rather than the other way around.

I wish I could animate it that way..unfortunately the real life object and the screwdriver need to make those moves and positions to demonstrate the product.

In the middle of trying to get the “break away” part of the plug to work correctly I resigned myself to doing just those frames by hand…combining illustrator drawings of the breakaway section in photoshop layers..exported from c4d and imported into photoshop.

It then occurred to me that if I could bend a straight object around a radius and get some twist to it that maybe i could still make it work in C4D instead of by hand.

I’ll take a look at your file and see if I can make sense of what you’ve done. I might have some followup questions.

Thanks. Any help is always much appreciated
