Hello! I’m relatively new to Cinema 4D, and I am having some difficulty with the bend deformer.

I have created a ‘button’ shape using splines and extrude. I now want to bend the entire shape to fit around a pen like tube. The issue is, I can’t seem to get the bend to work on the entire shape, just each element i.e. caps. Is there a way of applying the bend to the whole thing? It also seems I should have maybe created this shape from a polygon rather than a spline as you have a bit more control..

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks! J

you can use the bend on the Extrude directly or on all the editable parts directly by grouping the extrude (or parts) together with a bend under a Null – or you can use Connect on all the editable parts to make them one object and then use the Bend as a child of that as per usual.

The main thing whichever way you do it is to go to the caps in the Extrude and set them to Type – Quadrangles and make sure Regular Grid is checked. That gives the caps enough detail to actually be smoothly bent.

Awesome, good tips! The null worked perfectly

    Thanks Brian
